San Diego, CA (Nov. 25, 2008) - As most families prepare the turkey, surf club members are gearing up for the Windansea Coalition Contest, which is to be held this Thanksgiving weekend at La Jolla Shores, San Diego.

With the holiday soon approaching, clubs are making the final call for their members to enter the event. To help boost participation, the Windansea Surf Club has removed the cap of two members per division for each club and has made available more entries for some of the coalition surf teams. Surfers interested in entering the event are being told to contact their club’s team leader and make check payable to ‘Windansea Surf Club.’

Despite the typical holiday distractions, team leaders and organizers are trying to motivate members to participate by pointing to the favorable forecast. Wetsand is predicting 2-4 ft. on Saturday and 4-6ft. on Sunday. And with the surging swell, an offshore wind from the northeast is expected to blow through most of the day on Sunday, according to The Weather Channel.

Still another attraction is the pre-event party on Friday. Hosted at the Wave House, an entertainment facility featuring an artificial wave, the gathering preceding the contest promises lots of fun and calorie-burning activity, which is quite befitting after the Thanksgiving bonanza. The Wave House is located on the Mission Beach boardwalk.
