The
Oceanside Longboard Surfing Clubs 24th Annual End of Summer Surf
Contest and Beach Festival to be held August 15-17, 2008 at Oceanside
Pier promises to be one of the best ever. The event begins Friday
August 15th with Guy Takayama's 8th Annual Pro Noseriding Contest. This
event will feature some of the worlds best longboard surfers competing
for the longest noseride and thousands of dollars in prize money.
On
Saturday August 16th amateur longboard and standup paddleboard surfers
from as far north as San Francisco begin competing for bragging rights,
some cool trophies and hard cold cash in the 24th Annual Oceanside
Longboard Surfing Clubs End of Summer Surf Contest and Beach Festival.
This competition includes surfers from 6 to 60+ years old with trophies
and prize money presented for individual performances and the top
scoring team.
Not
into surfing but like the beach? The beach festival has something for
every member of the family. Several vendors will be providing delicious
food that can be washed down with beer from our beer garden provided by
Pizza Port. Vendors will be selling their unique products including
original artwork, fine handcrafted jewelry, clothing and other
surf/beach related items.
Enjoy
music? Several local musical groups will play for your pleasure and we
will even have a Polynesian dance group performing original dances from
the South Pacific islands. Feeling lucky? A standup paddleboard and
other beach gear will be raffled off during the festival with all
proceeds donated to Oceansides High School Surf Teams, The California
Surf Museum and the Interscholastic Surfing Federation.
So come join the fun and enjoy this end of summer celebration with us, you wont be disappointed.
