The
5th annual Pi Beta Phi Surf Classic went down at Crystal Pier May 4,
2008. 96 sorority girls flocked the beach in an effort to raise money
for the First Book charity. Pete Cuffaro, Co-Founder of the event,
brought surfing professionals and amateurs together to help in the
cause. Volleyball, tag team surf contest, food, and plenty of
mingling made this quite an entertaining event. But entertainment
wasn't all. The event successfully raised a total of $5,000.00, even
though conditions were for the most part undesirable with waist high
sloppy surf. Dane Johnson took first place in the men’s division
bringing home the $500.00 check.
