Surfindian Showcases Globally Exotic Art
The Pacific Beach Surfindian Boutique is Celebrating Yet Another Chapter in its History with a New Show on Third World Exotic and Global Photography
SAN DIEGO, CA – On June 13, 2009, Pacific Beach is bursting with events, starting the day down at Tourmaline Surf Park for the 11th Annual Summer Longboard Classic and wrapping up the night with a Party for the new show at Surfindian. After a day of (hopefully) epic surf and sunshine, the Surfindian Boutique on Mission Blvd. is holding a special party for its new show, featuring surfboards by Third World Exotic and photography by Lee Peterson.
Global, one of many photographic collections by Lee Peterson, transports the beholder into a 360-degree spin around all sorts of themes and landscapes, with a particular focus on waves, piers, and beach items. As the flyer on Peterson states, “Lee’s art is very unique in that he uses optics or Photoshop techniques or both to achieve the desired results he envisions for his creations,” rendering imagery that “pulls the panoramas into a global dimension requiring your mind to search for its own meanings.” Peterson has received several awards, including second place for The Surrealism Contest in Rome, Italy and the first pace in the Abstract Imagery Contest by The American Society of Media Photographers. Both Peterson and Mabile’s work, topped with Chris Rule’s good cheer and the presence of the shop’s regulars, make this a promising night.
