Clark Little Returns to Surfindian To all our Surfindian friends and family:
Surfindian wall during the show with Tyler Warren and the Growlers, featuring a great blend of SoCal music and art, all in a surf-related and inspired fashion.
This coming Friday evening, July 9, we will host an opening reception for our new art show featuring the shorebreak photography of Clark Little. The reception will be held from 6:00 until 10:00 pm. Clark will be traveling from Hawaii for the reception, and he will be in attendance and available to discuss and sign his art and book from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. As always, there is no charge to attend this event. On the same evening as the opening reception for Clark's show, Surfindian will also help to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Hawaiian business directory and magazine, Musubi Map. In connection with the Musubi Map celebration, we will feature the famous Musubi buffet and Li Hing fruit buffet that also will be offered complimentary to our guests. Food will be provided by L&L Pacific Beach and Specialty Produce. A bit more on our featured photographer Clark Little. Clark has become a true heavy hitter in the surf photography world-check out this short video of his interview on Good Morning America: Clark was born in Napa, California in 1968. Two years later, a move to the North Shore of Oahu dramatically changed his future. In the 80s and 90s he made his name as a pioneer of surfing at the Waimea Bay shorebreak. Clark had a unique talent for taking off on hopeless closeout shorebreak waves and surviving in one piece. In 2007, Clark discovered his ability and passion to capture the extraordinary beauty of the shorebreak when his wife asked him for a picture of the ocean to decorate a bedroom wall. With the confidence of an experienced surfer, Clark jumped in the ocean and started snapping away, recording the beauty and power of Hawaiian waves. "Clark's view" is a unique and often dangerous perspective of waves from the inside out, captured in photos for all to enjoy from the safety of dry land. Clark has gained national and international recognition for his North Shore shorebreak wave photography with appearances on television shows Good Morning America, Inside Edition, The Today Show, and ABC World News Now. Clark's work has been featured in many publications and newspapers including National Geographic, Paris Match (France), La Vie (France), Sierra Magazine (US), Geo (Germany), Nature's Best Photography (US), Nikon World, Practical Photography (UK), Rangefinder (US), The Guardian (UK), The Telegraph (UK), Daily Mail (UK), Metro (UK), The Australian, Herald Sun (Australia), People's Daily (China), Kyunghyang Shinmun (S Korea), Surfer's Journal, Surfer Magazine, Surfing Life (Australia), Nalu (Japan), and Hana Hou (Hawaiian Airlines), among others. So, one more time: Please join Surfindian, Clark Little, Musubi Map and the Southern California surf community for an evening of celebration, art, friends, food and music this coming Friday, July 9, from 6:00 until 10:00 pm. Help us kick off summer and celebrate this very special time of the year. Thanks so much for your support. Stay safe, have fun, and as always, happy waves. Chris |
