Mattson2 have been a regular, but very sepcial, feature at Surfindian, swinging the crowd at the beat of great jazz.

SAN DIEGO, California - On Saturday evening, September 18, starting at 7 pm, Surfindian will host an opening reception for a new art show entitled “Flake” and featuring the art of Japanese painter Yusuke Hanai. Yusuke’s surf- inspired paintings feature beautiful design themes and colors interspersed with characters exhibiting humor and a retro-60s vibe. In other words, very, very cool work. And speaking of very, very cool, the September 18 opening reception will also include a live, two-set performance from none other than our favorite jazz duo, the Mattson 2. You may remember that we hosted a benefit performance by the Mattson 2 last summer, which was definitely one of our biggest hits of the year. The boys can definitely play, and whether you’ve heard them before or are new to their hipster brand of jazz, you don’t want to miss this performance. Retro suits and skinny ties are optional.

The September 18 opening reception will also feature live DJ tunes, and a variety of light food and refreshments. Best of all, like all of our shows, it is open to the public and there is absolutely no charge to attend. Just come on down and have fun.
