Swamis and Pacific Beach Surf Club join hands to hold contest at Tourmaline

ENCINITAS, California – The Swamis Surf Club, founded in 1964 in San Diego, California, is on track to hold its nineteenth surf club contest, but this time at Tourmaline Surf Park, right at the heart of Pacific Beach, on October 16th and 17th. With its welcoming soft wave and a conveniently located beachfront parking lot, this promises to be yet another successful gathering of club members, some of whom sometimes come from as far as Northern California.

Now the dire economic climate has had its toll on the event. Due to the difficult financial times that many face and the skyrocketing cost of beach permits, the Swamis Surf Club is facing a bigger overhead than usual and in a time when sponsors are scarce. As a result, the decade old surf club has decided to change venues and join hands with another club. The Nineteenth Swamis Surf Club Contest will be held at the Tourmaline Surf Park and in association with the Pacific Beach Surf Club.

Now despite of the change of venue and the new partnership, the club is still looking for sponsors. Like in previous years, hundreds of surfers are expected to show up for the contest and sponsors can benefit greatly from being associated with decade-long surf clubs, whose gatherings are primarily driven to raise funds for various local charities.
