Under the Sun is a documentary film shot in Byron Bay and the Gold Coast of Australia. It explores the commercialization of surfing subcultures through two opposing surf towns. While the two locations are geographically close, their populations have completely different outlooks on life, and this clash is magnified in their respective surf scenes. The film features appearances from Dave Rastovich, Rabbit Bartholomew, Nat Young, Beau Young and Dean Morrison.
Cyrus Sutton’s first film, “Riding Waves”, won the Best Cinematography Award at the X-Dance Film Festival and Best Film at the Big Island Surf Film Festival. In 2006, Cyrus won an Emmy Award for his work as writer and director of photography on “Next Wave: A Tsunami Relief Story”.
Surfindian is located at 4658 Mission Boulevard, in the heart of Pacific Beach. The store phone number is 858.412.5334. For directions and other information, please visit www.surfindian.com.
