On
November 1st, 2008, Crystal Pier, Pacific Beach will be hosting a
political rally in support of Prop D, a measure that seeks to make the
alcohol ban on San Diego beaches permanent.
The rally is being organized by SafeBeaches, a political group that has
as its mission to make San Diego beaches “safe and fun for everyone,”
states the group’s website. “Whether you come to swim, skimboard,
boogieboard, surf, look for seashells, investigate tide pools, dig for
sand crabs, jog, fish, sunbathe, build sand castles or just watch the
sunset… we want you to be able to do so safely.”
As Election Day nears, SafeBeaches is urging for “beach lovers” to
become involved and show their support for the measure by coming down
to the rally. “Bring your handmade signs and SafeBeaches t-shirts (or
decorate your own shirts, flags, etc.). Bring your family, kids,
friends and neighbors,” says the group in its newsletter.
