Club members and non-club members alike gathered at Cardiff Elks Lodge on Friday Dec 14th to take part in the Swamis Surf Club Xmas Party 2007. With a turnout of roughly 60, a variety of folks, ranging from menehunes to kahunas, attended the party. All of them seemed thoroughly to enjoy the event's numerous attractions.

The scene was typical of premier parties. Some youngsters clustered around the pool table while a group of Encinitas veterans leaned over the bar for a good old chat; none other than Ron 'the Chiropracticor' and a few of his cohorts schmoozed their way around the place, while in the main room, the dance floor was packed with partygoers of all ages. The dancers moved to the beats of a live band, which played a sizeable hunk of Elvis' discography. Some, like Mike Emmerson and Debbie, were not shy in showcasing their rug cutting skills. And across the dance floor, a set of tables and chairs provided a refuge for those needing a break from all the shake up and for those who weren't quite feeling the pull of center stage.

Approximately one hour into the event, Tom English showed some quality footage of Cardiff's fine waves. Featured in the video were several Cardiff regulars -- Devon Howard, Steve Benedict, and English himself among them. Toward the end of the night, the raffle became the main attraction, followed by the announcement of the club's election results and a ceremony awarding the club's former officers. With the prizes, announcements, and awards out of the way, the glowing crowd gradually dispersed, and the party came to an end. All in all, the party was a smashing success.
