August, the annual Moores UCSD Cancer Center Luau and Longboard
Invitational surfs for a cure to raise awareness and much needed funds
for cancer research. By bringing together some of the most respected
men and women in surfing history with business leaders, scientists,
local politicians and national celebrities, the Longboard Luau is one
of the world’s most successful surfing fundraiser and has an
international reputation for celebrating the “aloha” spirit in the
fight against cancer. Now in its 15th year, the Invitational has
raised more than $2.6 million for the Moores UCSD Cancer Center.
