Reliable, and Great for Light Surfboards and Short, Sunday, 12 April 2009

This rack is incredible reliable, and great for light boards and short rides. I acquired this board rack back in 2000 and it still serves me well, as if I had just taken it out of the box. It's perfectly suited for shortboards, but when added a bit more weight -- like in the case of longboards -- the Side-Ride Rack starts giving in. The metal hooks start to bend and the extra weight on the side easily get you off course, especially if there is some side wind. For short rides, this product is great: it's small, light weight, and handy. But on long rides, it's not your best choice. There is no cargo system -- for example, a compartment for your wetsuit, towel, snack, and water; it does not offer the sturdiness needed, espcially if encountering winds and a set of hills; and it does not allow you to carry more than one board. But all in all, if you're looking for a bike rack for a light surfboard in a short ride, this is a great and affordable pick!
