2012 Stoker V Machine Update, Thursday, 26 January 2012

Written by Deadshaper

This is an update on the Stoker V Machine as of January 2012. The design has now been refined and the planing profile is at optimum efficiency. There are quite a few people opting for our 7\'6\" and 7\'8\" sizes instead of a 9 ft plus longboard.

I have just finished a full resizing program which now offers the boards from 4\'6\" thru 8\'0\" in Standard, Wide, & Super Wide versions. This allows the rider to dial in the size they want to ride not just based on length, but overall surface area of the board. All \"Wides\" are 1/2\" wider than a Standard, and the \"Super Wides\" are one full inch wider than a \"Standard\". All other design features are retained in the design.

Previous dealers that are no longer in business are egends and Backdoor Board Shop. Current dealers are \"Mollusk Surf Shop Venice\" (soon \"Mollusk San Franscisco\") and in early February, \"Thalia Surf Shop\" in Laguna Beach. Mollusk currently has demos as will Thalia by early February. Stoker update, Saturday, 07 November 2009

The Stoker pictured was made through Moonlight Glassing in 2008. Since that time Randall contacted me and we struck a deal to have me build the boards beginning in mid 2009. There had been some delay on delivery of these popular boards. The original design was a dedicated tri fin. The most popular sizes have run from 6\'10\" to 7\'6\", but I have developed new templates ranging from 5\'6\" to 8\'6\".

I have a few demos that will be released to shops in the near future including some EPS Epoxy versions that may include my VWS (variable weight system) for lengthening the turning arc on more demanding days.

These boards are paddle monsters, and t 8\'6\" it could float an NFL linemaln. They work tremendous in gutless slop, however I am currently developing a new Stoker model called Stoker XLR8R that will is handle chop and larger faced waves without getting squirrelly; these will be tested this winter at Rincon, The Ranch, and other hard charging line ups.

I am making the Stoker V Machines. These have been super popular and there will be a stock of ten on hand at the Backdoor Boardshop in Solvang in a couple more weeks. Some new dealers are in the works for central and So. Cal. They are selling as fast as I can make them so give it a few weeks or email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

I am very happy with my stoker. Easy to paddle, changes rails very well and it's fast when you need speed to pass the section.
For heavy guys like me the 7.6 is the perfect solution for an intermediate board between long and shortboard. Detail, the board goes well in chest high waves. In fact it's very fun to ride.

Very Fun to Ride, Sunday, 26 October 2008

I found it to have a strange paddle at first, but then, when up and riding, I had a blast. The board is fast down the line, makes some smooth turns, and very easy to catch waves -- beware wave hogs! And for those out there who are considering a transition from the longboard to a smaller board, this board is exactly what you want. That I know of: you can check them out at LEGENDS surf shop in Carlsbad (see directory) if you're down in SoCal, but Goleta if you are farther north.
