One of My Favorites, Monday, 12 May 2008 Written by Andre - View all my reviews - #1 Reviewer The board\'s thermal epoxy compression technology makes the board incredibly light and highly buoyant. So on \'buoyancy\' I give it a \'5\'. And the fact that it\'s well-shaped and light makes it highly maneuverable for a SUP board - hence the \'5\'. In addition, it turned out to be quite stable for me, who weighs about 200 lbs. - hence the \'5\' on stability. All things considered, the yawing effect isn\'t a problem but it could be mitigated even further (at least for California surf) it had less of a rocker, so I give it a \'4\' on yaw. As to maneuverability, the board is certainly good, but remember it\'s a 10\', so you do end up losing maneuverability due to the size. This might not be a problem for some bigger guys, but for me (who weighs about 200 lbs) it is. The smaller boards work better for me on this front. But since I\'m judging based on the maneverability for THAT size and volume, I can\'t take that into account. But nevertheless, the rails could have been a bit more tapered off, especially toward the tail and nose to boost maneuverability, so I\'ll give it a 3. But for beginners, this shouldn\'t discourage you, since the beefier rails will help you with stability. As to noseride-ability, no one (other things being equal) should say that a 10\' board is a bad noserider. If that does cross your mind, the problem most likely is you. This board, as expected, does a fine job noseriding - hence the \'5\'. In terms of speed,I think it\'s really good, but (at least for California) it could have less rocker, thereby making it faster - that\'s why I gave it a \'3\'. Finally, there is the durability. The structure of the board is virtually as durable as they come. But Boardworks has a well-known problem with chipping. Now this chipping is only cosmetic, but nevertheless gets in the way of me giving them a \'5\'. So I give it a \'4\'. But again, overall, of my favorite boards, this is clearly one of them - big thumbs up to Parmenter and the rest of the C4 team. Note: As I see it, it\'s virtually impossible to get a \'5\' score, for high score on one front usually means a compromise on another. For example, lightweight and high buoyancy is likely to affect negatively the yaw. So a great board, like this C4 model, is likely to have an optimal or close to optimal compromise among the board\'s various features.
