For those who don't mind getting their hands dirty every now and then by helping fellow surf communities in need of extra hands willing to work, the Tijuana River Citizen's Council along with the environmental organization WiLDCOAST, will be holding their first Tijuana River Valley Cleanup Day on Saturday, June 7th, from 9 am to noon. I live down here in Imperial Beach and surf the waters that regularly get fouled by this river, so of course, I'm going to be there to lend my support. A word to the wise for those contemplating such benevolence by taking part: Look at the poster for the event below for a clue about what kind of clothes you'll need for the job—heavy duty! Don't forget gloves, and may I suggest work boots, not flip flops for your feet. We won't be cleaning the beach, but the river valley itself, and who knows what we'll dig up there. Come prepared for the worst.
