Dear friends of Colin:
                                                                                   

We have good news.
 
All of the governmental agencies have approved the design for Colin's Memorial Bench. It will be located near the spot where we held the Memorial Service, designed by David Frisk . He is a superb craftsman who has designed and created a wide variety of projects around the world and we are lucky to have him willing to contribute his talents. His son, Tim, was Colin's roommate for a long time and was Colin's friend since they met as kids back in 1987, when the Wagschal's moved to Solana Beach.                    
 
We will cover the costs, but we would also like to give Colin's community as many opportunities as possible to contribute to its completion. We have created an account in his name at the Solana Beach branch of Mission Federal Credit Union, but we'll need to rely on locals to pull off whatever events might be appropriate. A wide range of possibilities come quickly to our minds -- a concert? a silent auction? a surf party?   But you are the ones in the best position to know what makes sense.

So, please let us know what you think. We'll support any efforts you are willing to put into this project, and hope that you are as pleased to see this memorial come to fruition as we are. The bench will be a lasting and fitting tribute to our son's great passion; a perfect place for his friends to take a moment to remember him; and a permanent addition to one of San Diego County's great surf spots.

We hope to use this Blog as a way for interested folks to communicate with each other and coordinate their efforts.
