David Hargrove III, a longtime Tourmaline local and a dearly beloved friend of the San Diego surf community, passed away on Sat. Feb 14 of a heart attack. Shortly after surfing La Jolla Shores, he left the water to die on the beach parking lot. Last Saturday (02/28/09), there was a paddle out for him at Tourmaline where hundreds of locals gathered to celebrate the life of this great friend. David had always a smile on his face and was always welcoming a conversation. Friend, you'll be truly missed. Our prayers go out to the family and friends.
