In the wave of growing suspicions about government spending, Oceanside local activist, Donna McGinty, filed a 9-page complaint with a grand jury, charging the city of poor oversight over funds dispersed to MainStreet Oceanside, which total $820,000 since 2000. Also cited in the complaint were the use of city funds by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, the California Welcome Center and the California Surf Museum . The grand jury has requested an official audit of the money spent and proceedings are scheduled to be under way.
