With the Santa Cruz Club Contest coming up on May 24&25 and the PLA at K55 on May 30-June 1, I've heard a lot of SoCal surfers talking about the down sides of the trips.

Unfortunately, those considerations do seem to have some validity. I wonder, however, how much of a deterrent they will actually be.
