Seychelle and Michael Booth Take Out Battle Of The Bay

San Francisco Bay welcomed paddlers for the 8th Annual Battle of the Bay over the weekend. The conditions were relatively calm, yet still made for a fun and competitive race for the international athletes. In the end, SIC Maui’s Seychelle and Starboard’s Michael Booth were too good, once again asserting their dominance in the distance.

Standup for the Cure Hosts Seattle Event Benefitting Susan G. Komen Puget Sound

Standup for the Cure 501c3 does it again. With support from Presenting Partners Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Boardworks Surf the 2nd Annual event at Lake Sammamish State Park doubled attendance and fundraising efforts of the previous year. With a winning combination of Fun, Compassion, Live Music, Great Food and Paddling the Standup for the Cure community continues to grow. “Our mission to save lives through early breast cancer detection while having fun seems to resonate in every community we visit.” Said Dan Van Dyck, Executive Director of Standup for the Cure.

Battle of the Bay Returns for 8th Annual Event in San Francisco

In its 8th year the Battle of the Bay paddle board race will be returning to the heart of San Francisco in support of Ocean of Hope. New for 2018, the event location will see a new home at Aquatic Park Cove, a National Historic Landmark, located on San Francisco Bay.

4th Annual Standup Muskegon Event Raises $100K

Standup for the Cure, the nationwide stand up paddling event that has raised over a million dollars to support breast cancer detection, treatment and education, announced today that its sold-out Standup Muskegon event raised over $100,000, surpassing fundraising efforts in much larger cities.

Bart de Zwart Finishes World’s Longest Race on a SUP

The Yukon 1000 is the world’s longest canoe race and takes place every other year. The Yukon 1000 is a 1,000 mile, self-supported race from Canada into the Alaskan backcountry and finishes in the Arctic circle. This year Bart de Zwart and his teammate Ike Frans finished the race in first on their stand up paddle boards. Here, Bart recaps the race and what it was like to paddle for 18 hours a day, 8-days straight.

Standup for the Cure Returns to Seattle

As Standup for the Cure 501c3 writes fundraising checks to Susan G Komen Orange County, CA and Susan G Komen Michigan they are preparing to bring their unique event to the Pacific Northwest for the 2nd year. After seven successful years, Standup for the Cure, alongside its national sponsors, Boardworks Surf, and Barefoot Wine, announce Standup for the Cure, Seattle to benefit the Puget Sound Affiliate of Susan G. Komen.

2018 Outdoor Retailer Takeaways

In its first ever summer show in Denver, the Outdoor Retailer annual tradeshow brought a lot of changes to the to experience of the show for the SUP (stand up paddle board) industry. Changes were both good and bad but the overall change in venue seemed to be a positive one. Here are a few takeaways from the show.

Inside the 2018 Molokai Holokai Paddle Festival

The Maui Jim Molokai Holokai Paddle Festival hosted by Youth in Motion kicked off with the Maui2Molokai Challenge on Saturday 7th July 2018. Pouring rain, bad visibility gave a moment of doubt to the racers if this event could happen as the remnants of Hurricane Fabio were passing North of the islands.
