Tutorial to Post News Submission

STEP 1: login and verify [top]

Login to the Mylocallineup.com News Email and see if any news submission has arrived since when you last checked in. You can login by going to this web address (https://www.google.com/a/mylocallineup.com) and logging in with the user name and password for that account.

STEP 2: Download and Copy [top]

Open the email with the news submission and download the attached image (if any) and convert the text of the news submission to a plain text. If the image is atteched, then simply click on the download link next to the image.

But if the image is in the main body of the email, then click on it and drag it to your desktop. Or, alternatively, right click on it and select SAVE AS and save it to your hardrive. Make sure you make a note of where that image is being saved to so that you can retrieve it later. Typically, in the case of Apples, the image is saved to the Download Folder on your computor.

Once you have a hold of the image, make sure to copy the text from the news submission and paste it into WORD. There, format it by simply making sure that there is only one space between paragraphs. The more in-depth formatting will come later.

After formating it on WORD, copy and paste it into TEXT EDIT.

STEP 3: upload text to website [top]

Login to the backend of Mylocallineup.com and enter your username and password, which was given to you by the site's Super Administrator.

Now click on the ADD CONTENT button.

Here, you go to the bottom box (which is also called MAIN TEXT) and click on the button to add a line.

Now copy the news submission text from the TEXT EDIT and paste it on the MAIN TEXT, right under the line that you've just created.

STEP 4: add image to the text [top]

Add the image that you had saved to your computor by clicking on the INSERT IMAGE icon.

Once that is open, click UPLOAD.

Click on BROWSE and select the image from your hardrive.

Then, before clicking OK, make sure that Select File after Upload and Create Unique File are filed in.

After the uploading process is done, select ALIGNMENT right, set the first box in DIMENSIONS to 350 wide, and click INSERT.

STEP 5: format article [top]

Now, you have the text and image in the Main Text Box, that is, the box below or second box. Select the title of the article and choose the STYLE line-height28 from the Styles pull down menu.

Also for the title, you want to choose 18pt for the FONT-SIZE.

For the subtitle (and if there isn't one, you can use the first line of the article), select ITALICS.

Next, click on the HTML icon and place the following code at the very top of the HTML box.

And, at the bottom of the HTML box, place the following code.

Now you can click UPDATE.

At this point, you are pretty much done with the Main Text Area. You now have to prepare the introduction for the article, which is much easier.Clik on the image that you've already inserted into the Main Text area and copy it. At this point, you should see some tiny boxes showing up around the image.

Place your cursor intro the INTRO TEXT AREA, click ENTER/RETURN and DELETE to make sure that the cursor is at the top of the area and Paste the image into it.

And here too, you want to click on the image and EDIT it to dimensions 150 x 100 (you might have to deselect the contrain box), alignment LEFT and click UPDATE.

Now from the STYLES pull-down menu, choose thumbnail.

Copy and paste the first sentence of the article and place it next to the image, but only allow the text to run up to the ABC check, after that cut the text and place elipses ...

Now select the section NEWS and CATEGORY.

Under the PARAMETERS Tab on the right side of the page, make sure that PAGE TITLE and INTRO TEXT are selected to HIDE and CATEGORY NAME and CATEGORY NAME LINKABLE are set to SHOW and YES, respectively.

In the TITLE TEXT field, copy and paste the title there but make sure it doesn't run longer than the visible text field.

Under the META INFO tab, enter the first paragraph of the text as the description and click on the ADD SEC/CAT/TITLE button for keywords.

Finally, click APPLY

and go to the NEWS section on the frontend of the site to make sure that the article's formate matches the website's standard format.

Also, make sure to check the article itself, not only the introduction on the News Section page.

And also, the news under the homepage.

Keep making changes until it does and once you're done you can finally click on the SAVE button.

Below is some material that you might want to use to format the article even further, always seeking to optimize content per space while maintaing a good presentation.
